Autonomy in the classroom is something that teachers find in short supply these days.   Amy Price, a second-grade teacher at Berg Elementary School in Newton, Iowa, bares her heart when describing how Common Core has dismantled the joy of learning among her students.  Unfortunately, it is no longer “her” classroom.

“We were given new materials packaged and sold as magic bullets to cover everything Common Core and we were instructed to follow it “without deviation”.  There has been “little time for anything else but reading and math and tests, and tests, and tests.”

The transformation of education is nearly complete.  Teachers have become drones.
