Minnesotans Against Common Core membership is moving swiftly toward 2,000 people who are passionate fighters against the Common Core, Race to the Top and No Child Left Behind waivers.  For at least twenty years, many Americans have stayed away from the political scene due to the divisiveness of the parties.  Now that OUR children are in danger of sub-par standards (removing portions of subjects), mind-controlling curriculum, zero-accountability testing, psychological data mining, free-flow data dissemination, and inflexible match-up to the workforce, we find our Parental Rights and School District Local Control are diminishing fast.  The Common Core is an educational system meant to remove our freedoms and representative government!

2015/2016 appears to be End-Game with this reform nationally.  2014-2015 is the End-Game for Minnesota.  Please continue to share liberally with your friends.  Tell them that this system is being pushed by both the Republicans and the Democrats. Have people over to your house.  Yes, it’s difficult information, but they’ve just got to be informed.  Invite friends to a coffee shop.  Have people over and share our power point presentation.  Order the “Standardization” or “Building the Machine” movie and invite friends to your home.  Get to your school board meetings.  Talk to the school board members. Tell them they can leave the standards right now with very few repercussions.  Show that you are genuinely concerned. CALL YOUR LEGISLATOR!  Find out their position and send the information you learn to us.  If they ask you questions, tell them you’ll get back to them and we’ll help point you to some answers.

Dr. Sandra Stotsky was the Deputy Commissioner of Education for the state of Massachusetts and developed (along with her teachers) what became known as the highest standards for English Language Arts in the U.S.  She sat on that Common Core Validation Committee and could not validate the standards.

Dr. Jim Milgram, professor at Stanford University and member of the Executive Committee of NASA, also sat on the Validation Committee for Common Core and could not in all good conscience validate these standards.  Dr. Milgram has repeatedly stated that children should be removed from daily math classes where the Common Core is taught.  He believes the methodology is destabilizing to the mind.

With the news that our Data Bill has been “birthed”, it’s time to get on the phones!!  The bill has been referred to the House Education Policy and House Education Finance committees.  Let’s start with the House Ed Committees this week!  We need EVERYONE calling!

My call is in reference to Bill HF 2766, a bill for an act relating to education.  This bill is Chief authored by Rep. Jason Isaacson and originated by Rep. Jim Abeler.

I am calling (or writing) to inform you of my concerns with data collection and how that data is leaving our state for the Tri-State Consortium.  And now, we find that various School Boards are revising their Policy Manuals to allow data to fly directly to the federal government and without parental consent.  We are opposed to this action and wish to protect our childrens’ and families’ personal information.

Secondly, I am very concerned with the Common Core Standards; that these standards may not be high enough; and a loss of local control when the standards are held in copyright by two trade organizations (the CCSSO and NGA).  HF 2766 maintains the integrity of our state academic standards and our state educational autonomy.  I do not want to see local control given away to either the federal government or any corporate entity.

And lastly, the bill gives parents the opportunity to opt out of data collection when data becomes personally identifiable.  Understand, this is not an issue for me.  This is about my children and my children’s future.  I strongly encourage you to read the bill, support it and to co-author.  I will be calling back within the week to find out your position on this bill.  Thank you for your time!”
